THE GUN
The first fighter planes were usually biplanes with a wooden frame covered with fabric. They were armed with light machine guns and reached speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. They were first used during the Great War, when the pilots of light reconaissance planes tried to attack the enemy planes. They first used hunting rifles, handguns and shotguns as weapons.
